Lammbock

Lammbock PosterMany of you know that while I am pretty busy keeping up with all the new movies that come in, I also try to catch up some of the old while I tagging along. Lammbock is one of the so much neglected german movies I barely manage to watch and it's a very popular one if you ask me. It's a sad sign that I didn't manage to watch it up to today and many people laughed at me because of it. Various people at work and from my circle of friends repeatedly kept throwing quotes at me and all I ever could do about it was to shrug.

This had to end sometime and therefore I bought the dvd about two weeks ago, and about a week ago I finally managed to watch it. I've never heard a bad word about 'Lammbock' before watching it, everyone seems to love it. The worst thing I've heard is that someone just thought that it was okay to watch once and that's a pretty good sign if you ask me.

'Lammbock' tells the story about two guys running an orginized marijuana delivery service, disguised as a pizza delivery service. They don't run it to make big money but to get around, finance their law study or just live from day to day a little bit more wealthy than the average guy. The movie while being focussed on the drug part, tells a story of the daily live of these two partying and having fun and the days when they suddenly are facing some trouble discovering an undercover drug agent inside their midst.

Above all 'Lammbock' is a comedy and barely to be taken for serious, nevertheless it manages to get through with its storyline without being too rediculous. I certainly didn't had as much fun watching it, as my friends seem to have. But I have to admit that due watching as many movies as I watch, there are quite a few movies I am not able to enjoy anymore. Mostly because I already have seen something similar previously, or because I am mostly searching for movies with a little bit more substance than this one. Ok, so this one is a comedy - forget substance, but then I need it to be funny and I didn't laugh too much watching 'Lammbock'.

This isn't supposed to mean that this is a bad movie, but I also didn't thought that it was significant. It doesn't matter whether you've seen it or not. Yes, it is entertaining, the cast is fairly good at what it does and there are a few laughs, but that's about it. Solid entertainment worth a watch and maybe even a second - but certainly not more.

So was it German, or funny? : )

It certainly was German, but it didn't try as hard to be as all the others usually do - so I thought it was bearable.
